Richard Nii Aryee, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, has fired missiles at former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

The NDC man noted that former President John Agyekum Kufuor has no moral right to tell Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians over the economic challenges and governance failures witnessed during his administration.

According to Richard Nii Aryee Kufuor’s comments are hypocritical, and he accused him of remaining silent throughout Akufo-Addo’s presidency despite widespread public discontent.

Speaking on Kasapa FM, Nii Aryee stated, “Kufuor looked on while Akufo-Addo inflicted hardship on Ghanaians. He was completely silent on the many wrongs of that administration.

When $58 million was spent just to dig a hole for the National Cathedral—after Ghanaians were told no state funds would be used—did we hear a word from Kufuor? Not even once.”

He added, “There were a lot of harsh policies and actions that hurt Ghanaians, but Kufuor never condemned them. He didn’t even pass a comment. He simply failed to call out the rot in the Akufo-Addo government”.

“Ex-President Kufuor has no moral right to now tell Ghanaians that Akufo-Addo and Bawumia should apologise. He had every opportunity to speak, but he chose silence,” he concluded.

His comment comes on the back of Kobina Arthur Kennedy, a renowned stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), revealing that former president John Agyekum Kufuor asked former president Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians.

According to Arthur Kennedy, the apology is to atone for the hardship imposed on Ghanaians during the Akufo-Addo administration’s tenure.

Speaking on TV3 Key Points on June 28, Mr Arthur Kennedy detailed, “I have heard from the grapevine that President Kuffour has suggested to President Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians. This is advice I agree with. He must apologise”.

Arthur Kennedy boldly stated he agrees with the suggestion made by former President Kufuor, “There was impunity, there was corruption, there was arrogance of power, there was hardship.”
