Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, has donated 4 million cedis to support the NPP’s National Delegates Conference tomorrow.
The NPP’s National Delegates Conference is scheduled on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Delegates are expected to deliberate on proposed amendments arising from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee report and a very old proposal from the 2019 Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
According to reports, Kennedy Agyapong donated 4 million cedis to support the conference.
Kennedy Agyapong had earlier, in a video, called on the NPP delegates to listen to the grassroots and give them their choice of a candidate.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, the NPP must make the right decision that reflects the views of Ghanaians and the delegates, especially the grassroots.
Speaking in a viral video, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Good morning, NPP delegates, I take this opportunity to welcome all of you to Accra for the NPP delegates’ conference. I am pleading with you to take the right decision that reflects the views of Ghanaians and the delegates, especially the grassroots.
They are the voice of the people, and we should listen to them. If they want a victory for us, then we should give them their choice.
I am pleading with all the delegates to make the right decision to help this party win the 2028 elections”, he added.
Meanwhile, former President Akufo-Addo has refuted claims he attempted to reverse the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to hold early primaries or postpone the scheduled National Delegates Conference.
On Monday, July 14, the Office of the Former President dismissed the allegations as completely false.
NPP’s National Delegates Conference injunction
Shamsudeen Iddrisu and Kwadwo Boateng, two members of the New Patriotic Party, have, however, filed an application at the Accra High Court.
The two NPP members are seeking an interlocutory injunction to stop the party’s upcoming National Delegates Conference.
The court document stated, “An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendant from organising the Extraordinary National Delegates Conference pending the final determination of the instant suit.”
“Every year, at least four weeks before the Regional Annual Delegates Conference, a Constituency Annual Delegates Conference must be held in every constituency. Similarly, a Regional Annual Delegates Conference must take place at least four weeks before the National Annual Delegates Conference.”
He continued, “The actions, conduct, membership, structure, organisation, procedures, and activities of the Defendant/Respondent are governed by the Constitution of the New Patriotic Party (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Constitution’). I have attached a copy of the NPP Constitution to this affidavit, marked as Exhibit BK 2.”
“Per the Constitution, at least four (4) weeks prior to the Regional Annual Delegates Conference, there shall be a Constituency Annual Delegates Conference organised by the party in every constituency”.
