Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure, has said President John Dramani Mahama has revealed to him that it has been difficult changing the mindset of Ghanaians and some appointees.
According to the Investigative Journalist, John Mahama is focused on resetting Ghana and helping the country strengthen its democracy.
Manasseh Azure revealed he had the honour of visiting President John Dramani Mahama yesterday, July 23, 2025.
According to Manasseh, they both discuss governance and accountability, and Mahama encouraged him to keep up with my accountability journalism.
In a post on X, Manasseh Azure wrote, “While acknowledging the difficulty in changing the mindset of Ghanaians, including some of his appointees, President Mahama said he was focused on resetting Ghana and helping to strengthen our democracy”.
He further revealed that he thanked John Mahama for discontinuing the 19-year fraudulent Zoomlion-YEA contract.
Manasseh Azure added, “I took the opportunity to thank him for the bold decision he took to discontinue the 19-year fraudulent Zoomlion-YEA contract. I also asked for an update on this and the reform of the sanitation management he had promised, and he responded”.
He further disclosed that a team is working to give MMDAs the power to manage their sanitation.
Manasseh added, “A team is working on a document to guide the government’s decision to give the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) the power to manage their sanitation.
President Mahama also stated that his government had decided to ensure the District Assemblies Common Fund is distributed to the assemblies, instead of the money being spent in Accra.
In the past, the assemblies got only 43% of the Fund, while the remainder was used for shady procurements and contracts at the DACF in Accra. Of course, a chunk (if not all) of those procurements went to Zoomlion and its subsidiaries”.
Manasseh further revealed he wished President John Mahama well, saying, “I wished him well, and I pray he succeeds. For if he succeeds, Ghana prospers”.
