Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the former running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has refuted rumours that he has switched camp.
According to Napo, as he is commonly called, he still remains with the Bawumia camp.
He boldly emphasised that he cannot be ungrateful to Dr Bawumia after making him the running mate.
Napo stated, “It is not true, I’ve not moved from any camp to any camp. I remain where I am. Can I be ungrateful to Dr Bawumia after making me the running mate? What kind of human being will be so ungrateful?
I’ve not moved any camp; what I’ve done is to try and unite the party against whoever emerges as the flagbearer of the NPP. There’s only one person who can become the flagbearer of the NPP”.
He further clarified that another allegation suggested that he had endorsed Kennedy Agyapong during a recent event.
In a viral social media image circulating online is alleged that Napo had dumped Dr Bawumia for Kennedy Agyapong.
Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh warned against the distortion of images to twist someone’s own narratives.
Napo added, “I spoke with Ken yesterday. He was furious. It’s not true. I want us to have a good fight amongst ourselves, a good debate. Nothing negative. Because whatever it is, somebody will end up victorious.”
“I’m not sure that going to take images from one social media and twisting and misrepresenting will do good to anybody. If it’s not in the spirit of reconciliation and togetherness and unity that we are building, anybody you do such a thing to will come out strongly.”
Napo further suggested that some ardent supporters may have created these distortions.
He added, “There are some members who are in the group more than the group leader himself. So some people took it on themselves to take images.
“My team, I understand, posted nearly 20 images of various scenes at the stadium… including the supposedly presidential hopefuls. It’s only MPP that somebody can say I’m a presidential hopeful.”
