Andy Appiah-Kubi, the former member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has stated that if former president Akufo-Addo had listened and sacked former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, the NPP would not have lost the 2024 election.

Andy Appiah-Kubi, in an earlier interview, revealed that Ken Ofori-Atta was more powerful than President Akufo-Addo.

Andy Appiah Kubi noted that when former President Akufo-Addo asked Ken Ofori-Atta to do something, he refused, saying that it wouldn’t happen.

According to him, Ken Ofori-Atta claimed he procured victory for the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections.

Speaking on TV3, Andy Appiah Kubi detailed, “The man was too powerful if you even go you wouldn’t get what you wanted, too powerful, than even the president, the president will tell him to go and do this he will say ‘la lie’ it won’t happen, he came to our meeting and said that I procured this victory for us”.

“That was the first time I stood up and said my friend, what are you saying, I didn’t see your hands in Asante Akim North, so if you help people procure victory I didn’t see you at Asante Akim North and it cannot be the case that you a singular person procure victory for everybody and then he sat back”, he added.

He also shared a shocking account of the personal toll he faced during his outspoken advocacy for the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta.

“My life at some point in time was in danger,” he said.

“I suffered some ailment through the period, got treated, though I was fortunate, and I thank God that I’m still alive.”

“It’s an internal anxiety. Some people talk about it in the press, exaggerating it, but I suffered pain.
