Prof Ransford Gyampo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), has revealed he does not drive government vehicles to any function apart from government work.
Prof Gyampo emphasised that he had his own car before he was appointed to the government and buys his own fuel.
According to Prof Gyampo, he still lives on campus by paying his own rent, although he is entitled to government accommodation.
He further revealed that he is still a staff member of the University of Ghana but has been loaned to the government of Ghana.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Prof Gyampo stated, “I don’t drive a government vehicle to any function apart from sending it to government work.
If I am going to church, a wedding, a funeral or anywhere. I had my own car before the government appointed me, and so I buy my fuel. I came here with my driver. Anytime I am driving my own car I give money that buys fuel.”
He added, “No, I still live on campus. I am entitled to government accommodation but to the extend that I remain a teacher at the University of Ghana now I am paying for my accommodation on campus, commercial rate.
I was told something was being prepared for me, but I preferred to live on campus. I am on secondment. I am a staff member of the university on loan to the government. So, I live on campus and I pay a commercial rate for my accommodation”.
Prof Gyampo, in the same interview, recounted how he was among the people who chased President John Mahama out of office in 2016.
Prof Gyampo revealed that they chased John Mahama out of office in the hope that former President Akufo-Addo was going to be Ghana’s messiah.
According to Prof Gyampo, he is an avowed critic of President Mahama, and there is documentary proof.
Prof Gyampo added, “In the lead-up to the 2016 elections. We were the ones who chased him [President Mahama] out.
I was an avowed critic of President Mahama. I think you are a fair-minded Ghanaian and a fair-minded stakeholder in Ghana’s media landscape, so if I tell you that I was among the loudest critics of President Mahama in the lead-up to the 2016 elections, you will know, and there is documentary proof. The internet doesn’t forget,” he stated.
“We chased him out of office in the hope that former President Akufo-Addo was going to be the messiah,” he added.
