Solomon Owusu, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has said Ghanaians will not vote for any of the NPP presidential aspirants.

According to Solomon Owusu, the reasons why the NPP was booted out of office in the 2024 election are still relevant.

He asserted that how will the NPP convince Ghanaians that they will deal with issues of corruption when they go and sit on the floor while people who are accused of being corrupt are being handled by the state.

Speaking on TV3 Key Point, Solomon Owusu stated, “In the Akan Region in the last election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was doing around 67 to 68 per cent and even with that, he ended up in the National Polls at the region of 41 per cent.

If you are going to do a proportionate allocation, if 64 to 68 was leading to 41 per cent, then with this 59 per cent, he is doing around 38 per cent in the national polls.

For me, that brings back the mantra in town that he got 38 per cent”.

He added, “Honestly, none of them fascinates me, honestly. The Ghanaian will not settle on any of these because the reason for which the NPP was booted out is still relevant.

How are you going to go back to the Ghanaians are convince them you will deal with issues of corruption when you go and sit on the floor while people who are accused of being corrupt are being handled by state institutions, how will you handle galamsey?”

Solomon Owusu also sarcastically stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are telling Ghanaians they should give them another opportunity to come and dig holes.

According to Solomon Owusu, Ghanaians must not allow the NPP to come back to office, as the $97 million spent to dig a hole for the National Cathedral is pathetic.

Solomon Owusu stated, “Go and see the roads that we pile on $97 million, the contractor between Amasaman and Nsawam is demanding $45 million, is that not the case we have used 97 million to sink a hole, is it not pathetic and this is a party that is telling you that we should give them an opportunity to come and lead us again.

So that they can come and dig holes, that will not happen, we must not allow it is pathetic.

But on the basis of the management letters alone, without any forensic audit it is enough to indict a lot of people. People must be lined up and prosecuted”, he added.

Meanwhile, Justin Kodua, the General Secretary for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the people of Ghana want the return of the NPP.

According to Justin Kodua, the youth, farmers, and traders are all watching the NPP.

He claimed that the Ghanaian people are looking for alternatives and want the NPP to come back.

Speaking at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference in Accra on Saturday, July 19, Justin Kodua stated, “Ghana needs us; the youth are watching us, the farmers are watching us, the traders are watching us, let us fight with one body and one identified vision and ambition to make sure that this abysmal performance from the NDC government.

“Ghanaians are looking for alternatives, and Ghanaians want to come back to the NPP. Ghanaians know that our government offered better solutions to their problems.”

“At the end of the day, they want to vote for an opposition party that is ready for power. Therefore, actions and inactions that seek to divide us, that bring acrimony and tension, need to be relegated,” Kodua stated.

He added, “We must show Ghanaians that we are a proper, responsible, and viable opposition party that will rescue them from the misery they are going through under the watch of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government”.
