Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson has stated that every Ghanaian has a role to play in Ghana’s transformation, not just the President.
According to him, each Ghanaian has a role to play in our homes, in our workplaces, and in our communities.
He noted that only together can we build the nation we all dream of.
Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the forecourt of the State House, Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson stated, “We cannot expect the President alone to carry the weight of Ghana’s progress.
Each of us has a role to play in our homes, in our workplaces, and in our communities. Only together can we build the nation we all dream of”.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has made a call to all Ghanaians to hold those in authority, including himself, accountable.
According to John Mahama, even the office of the President, which by the grace of God he now holds, is not above the law.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Tuesday, July 1, President Mahama stated, “Let us remain vigilant against the voices of tribalism, the voices of religious extremism and against the poison of political division. These are the seeds of division that we must never let take root in our precious nation, Ghana”.
“We must speak a language of peace, compassion, and mutual respect. We must build bridges, not barriers, for we are one people sharing one land and pursuing one identity and destiny”, he added.
John Mahama further added, “We must hold those in authority, including myself, accountable to the highest standards of integrity and humility.
Public office is not a privilege for personal gain; it is a sacred trust bestowed by the people and a responsibility to serve all, especially the most vulnerable”.
“Even the office of the President, which by the grace of God I now hold, is not above the law.”
