Ghanaian dancehall king Shatta Wale has launched a scathing attack on former Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare.

According to Shatta Wale, Dampare loved social media rather than policework.

He boldly stated that the former IGP saw himself as a celebrity.

Shatta Wale claimed IGP Dampare’s removal was a testament to God’s divine intervention.

The dancehall artist’s comments come on the back of the recent arrest of a doom prophet who prophesied his death.

Speaking on a livestream on social media, Shatta Wale stated, “This is the first time…Shoutout to IGP, everything you’ve put in place if it’s going to benefit the citizens, we like it.

If it were the former IGP, he wouldn’t have heard the Pastor’s doom prophecy about me, but I come live and talk he will hear about it because he’s a Facebooker. I’ve not seen an IGP who likes social media than the former IGP.

An IGP who saw himself as a celebrity. God has disgraced all of you. If I were your son would you allow people treat me that way?”

In a related Dampare news, Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, the member of parliament for Madina, has revealed he began a book on ex-IGP Dampare titled “The Unruly IGP”.

According to the lawmaker, his book was about being a victim of the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akufo Dampare’s unruly behaviour.

The member of parliament revealed that Dampare’s misrule led to Police Officers chasing him in his home and even at church with AK-47s as though I was a common criminal.

Francis Xavier Kojo Sosu further accused the former IGP of peddling falsehood against him in court.

According to the lawmaker, if IGP Dampare’s charges were correct, he should be behind bars today.

Speaking on TV3’s program Agenda, Francis Xavier Kojo Sosu detailed, “I personally was a victim of Dampare’s misruling where Police Officers were chasing me in my home in the church with AK-47s as though I was a common criminal, and we went to court all kinds of peddled falsehood”.

“I actually began a book on him titled “The Unruly IGP” I just didn’t finish writing those books. If those charges were correct, I should be behind bars today. If those charges were correct, I should be behind bars today.

Francis Xavier Kojo Sosu further blamed the media for painting former IGP Dampare as a saviour of the police service, but in reality, he failed as a leader.

I am saying that you can create all the propaganda in the media, but the reality is what will expose you. Once there is a change in government, he would be exposed. Right now they say when the frog dies we see the length of the frog, now we are seeing the length of the man who was portrayed by the media to be the saviour of the Police Service, he simply failed”, he emphasised.

Former Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, was sacked by President John Dramani Mahama. He was replaced by Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
