Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, the Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), has shockingly accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Manso Nkwanta, Owusu Mensah, of being involved in illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey.”
According to Hanna Bisiw, Owusu Mensah is allegedly running a galamsey site near a school.
Speaking on JoyNews on June 29, 2025, Dr Bisiw-Kotei stated, “The heap of this illegal mining thing that I’m saying. I’m looking for the name of the person who is actually digging around the school. He’s the NPP chairman for Manso Nkwanta, Chairman Owusu Mensah,” she stated.
“That is his site around the school. I’m saying it for a two-million per cent fact. If you get to know me, I’ll not just mention something that I don’t know,” she asserted.
“And whilst we were there, he got one governor to call us, and what I told them was that we are not here to negotiate anything with anyone. If there’s anything to negotiate, it’s for the repair and the restoration of the ecosystem that they have destroyed in this community and to give the life of this community back to them,” she added.
In a related story, Dr Hanna Bisiw has asserted that her galamsey fight is not a call to duty, and is not about her.
Speaking to the media in a video shared on social media, Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei stated, “I’ve always told people that when I say I’m a village champion, it’s not a joke. I grew up in a village. There’s no aspect of village life that I haven’t experienced as a village child.
I’ve walked barefoot, I’ve worn torn underwear, I’ve had lice and nits stuck in my hair. I’ve walked long distances and gone without food before,” she recounted.
She added, “I’ve fetched water from streams, and I was given an opportunity. That’s why I’m here today. It’s not because of marriage or because I’m a superhuman being.
No. It’s because God used someone to pick me up from the gutters and clean me up. That’s why I’m here today,” Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei.
“A river has been destroyed. The forest has been destroyed all around the school. The fear and insecurity these children and teachers face while passing through such areas will affect their concentration. How do you expect such a child to grow up and fulfil their God-given potential? So, for me, this is a call to duty, this is not about me” she added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hanna Bisiw, CEO and her team arrested four Chinese suspects for engaging in illegal mining activities in Atatam, in the Adansi Asokwa District in the Ashanti Region.
