Frank Adu Jnr, a former Cal Bank CEO, has stated that Ken Ofori-Atta’s tenure as finance minister was a disaster.
He described the economic stewardship of former President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as a disaster.
Frank Adu Jnr, the renowned banker, blamed the per performance for the outcome of the 2024 elections and the widespread suffering of Ghanaians.
Speaking on JOY NEWS, Monday, June 30, Frank Adu Jnr stated, “Look, if it wasn’t disastrous between him and the president, the people of Ghana wouldn’t have voted the way they voted in 2024. It’s not me saying it; the verdict is captured in the results of the elections.
“It’s as simple as that. You do not run the economy where almost everybody is suffering and expect that the people will not object. And that’s what the voters of this country did last year.”
The renowned banker revealed his long-standing personal relationship with the former finance minister.
He added, “We are kind of family with Ken Ofori-Atta. On my first trip to the US, I stayed with Ken. We slept in the same bed. So that’s the relationship”.
“I remember when he was appointed. I sent him a message, congratulating him and urging him to do the best he could for this country, and leave a legacy, and that’s what we all expected. We were all very hopeful, but subsequent events have betrayed that hope”, he added.
Meanwhile, it will be recalled the OSP has accused Ken Ofori-Atta of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), the loss reduction contract between ECG and Beijing Jao and Health Ministry to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances.
Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, the wife of Ken Ofori-Atta, has stated that her husband would require about 3 months to recover fully.
The wife of Ken Ofori-Atta, on June 16, revealed that his surgery was successful.
According to Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, Ken Ofori-Atta had a successful surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
