Maurice Ampaw, a private legal practitioner and radio show host on Wontumi TV has stated if he is made EOCO boss suspect will need to bring Jesus Christ and Angel Michael as bail conditions.
According to Maurice Ampaw, should power change and he is made EOCO boss traditional rulers in Ghana should be quiet as they are now.
Speaking on Wontumi TV, Maurice Ampaw detailed, “If power changes and I’m appointed EOCO boss, you’ll need to bring Jesus Christ. The CID boss she is a woman so she is very sensitive so she gave a reasonable bail. But Raymond Archer is not a lawyer, he has anger within because McDan destroyed his properties so he is in pain.
You can clearly see that he is using that against Chairman Wontumi, but my fear is that should power change, how all the Kings are quiet they should remain quiet.
Should power change and I Lawyer Ampaw am made the EOCO boss you’ll need to bring Jesus Christ and Angel Michael as part of your bail conditions. So, NDC continue this is your time”, he added.
His comments Chairman Wontumi was arrested by EOCO following a visit to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Tuesday, May 27 shortly after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.
He was granted bail of GH₵50 million with two sureties on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, however, his legal team on Wednesday had not fully satisfied the conditions required to secure his release.
On 30 May 2025, the motion was filed at the High Court in Accra and was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, 3 June.
However, the legal team formally withdrew the application seeking the review yesterday Monday 2 June.
This comes after Wontumi’s legal team on Friday, May 30 revealed that despite meeting the bail conditions, Wontumi’s release has been stalled due to a fresh legal application filed earlier in the day.
He explained, “My client is not going home tonight. We encountered a challenge that needs to be addressed before we can move forward”.
Unknown to me, an application was filed to frustrate what we are doing. We will deal with it on Monday. It is an application that was not filed by me, but it has prohibited his release.
We encountered some difficulties which will be sorted on Monday, then we will have a fresh slate to operate, and work towards the desired result,” Appiah-Kubi noted.
Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi has since been released from EOCO custody after meeting his bail conditions yesterday June 2, 2025.
