Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister in Charge of Government Communications has slammed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over the newly introduced Dumsor Levy.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Dr Bawuma and the NPP imposed 30 taxes on Ghanaians and are now waxing lyrical about this dumsor levy.
He dismissed Dr Bawumia’s attacks as hypocritical and politically motivated.
Speaking on JOY NEWS Newsfile Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated, “I have heard Bawumia waxing lyrical about this tax.
If his government had imposed just E-levy, Ghanaians wouldn’t have risen against it. They imposed over 30 taxes on Ghanaians in the eight years that they governed”
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia fired shots at the John Mahama-led NDC government for introducing a dumsor levy eight times the e-levy.
According to Dr Bawumia, the NDC scrapped the e-levy and now they have brought a dumsor levy, 8 times the e-levy.
Dr Bawumia noted that for the e-levy when u send a momo of 1000 cedis you pay 10 cedis but for the dumsor levy 1000 cedis worth of fuel you pay 83 cedis as new taxes.
Speaking during his ongoing NPP Thank You Tour, Dr Bawumia detailed, “The NDC told so many lies, and every day people are now realising the lies they told, yesterday evening you all saw what happened, they brought a dumsor levy.
They first said we brought e-levy so they are going to scrap it, they scrapped it and they have now introduced the dumsor levy which is 8 times the e-levy”.
He added, “Today if you buy 1 litre of petrol you will pay 1 cedis, If you buy GHC 1000 worth of fuel, you will pay GHC 83 in new taxes. The e-levy when you send some GHC 1000 momo you pay 10 cedis but for them, for 1000 you will pay 83 cedis for fuel.
I can assure you there are more taxes coming, by the time we will get to 2028 Ghanaians will realise the NDC told so many lies and I am sure they will tell us to come again to come and fix things”.
