According to his lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, Wontumi is expected to return to EOCO for further questioning on Wednesday, June 4, and again on Monday, June 9, 2025.

In the viral video shared on X, Wontumi was spotted being showered with praises and responding thank you, when asked whether he had returned to EOCO after his bail Wontumi declined to respond.

Meanwhile, Dr Justice Srem Sai, the Deputy Attorney General has revealed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as  Chairman Wontumi is being trailed by Foreign investigators.

The Deputy Attorney General noted that Wontumi was being investigated by Ghana’s foreign partners over suspicions of criminal activity tied to his business operations and dealings.

Speaking on JOY NEWS, Dr Justice Srem Sai stated, “There are issues with our foreign partners, an investigative agency”.

“We have partnered with other foreign agencies who are interested in things that have been traced or suspicions of crime that have been traced—to his business and him personally.”

“It is not that it will be triggered necessarily by our foreign partners, but they are interested in what we are doing, and they assist us, just as we assist them. That is how law enforcement works these days, it’s cooperative, it’s international”, he added.

Dr Justice Srem Sai further disclosed, “The process of crime or materials which are subject to criminal proceedings have found themselves in his possession. That is something I cannot put out at this point. But the point I’m trying to make is that we will not persecute anyone.

“You need to understand—if I am here and I’m telling you the design and scheme, what I’m also doing is to inform the suspects that we are looking for you in this direction. And then it helps them to evade.”

“They are interested in Wontumi’s case,” he stressed.
