A video has surfaced of School children in Keta Municipality walking in floodwaters to attend school.
According to reports, the School children in Lawoshime, a community in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, are forced to wade through floodwaters to attend school following heavy rains the previous day.
Reports, the canoes typically used to transport pupils and residents have fallen into bad condition.
The school children are now left with no option but to trek through the floodwaters, risking their safety in the process.
The situation is said to be a recurring challenge during the rainy season, with residents expressing concern over the dangers schoolchildren face each year just to access education.
Some Ghanaians have reacted to the video by saying, “ These are Do or Die hard fans of the current NDC government. What’s the government doing for them?
Or as usual, the party bots will still come back and attack me like usual and have their problem unresolved”.
“This isn’t just neglect, it’s a shameful indictment of misplaced priorities. Year after year, same story, no solution. Leadership must do better. @JDMahama would do better”, another stated.
One more netizen stated, “It only makes sense that someone asked them to walk through the claim flood so that he or she can video them.
Meanwhile, the person could just ask them not to if he or she is so concerned about their safety and go ahead to do the video while the children stand at the start”.
Additionally, a netizen added, “ Seeing my hometown going through all this mess really breaks my heart @JDMahama. There is no development in the Volta Region, After School, either you join the brass bands for a funeral, become a fisherman or a Carpenter! The Government needs to build the Volta region, especially Keta!”.
