A viral video has surfaced of a woman caught shoplifting at Makola Market in Accra.
Reports suggest the woman was exposed by market women on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 9:21 am.
The woman caught shoplifting was publicly shamed as market women hooted at her calling her names like “Ataa Ayi”.
In the viral video, the woman was seen walking on the street accompanied by a police MTTD officer and the Markola Market women who hooted at her.
The woman was later handed to the police by the market women.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians reacted to the video by saying, “We shouldn’t be quick to judge her in my opinion. U never know what she is going through. But then again it’s better to ask than to steal”.
“In December 2006, an old woman in her late 50’s or early 60’s scammed me of over 15 crates of Guinness, coca-cola, and also took my own money for transportation. Since then, I have never felt pity for female thieves”, another stated.
A netizen wrote, “Son hustle see escort Dem take give uhm ibi man anka some Rambo slaps has blessed his body long time even in disgrace women carry grace”
One more user added, “Don’t Ghana have laws? What’s the use of parading her and making noise? Has this approach helped? No!! U still have high level of robberies. Why not strengthen the judiciary system to deal with this appropriately?”
