In a viral video shared, Orphans at the New Life Nungua Children’s Home were seen confronting officials from the Krowor Municipal Assembly as they carried out a demolition exercise on a part of their property, reportedly to make way for a road construction project.

In the viral video shared a narrator was heard saying, “This is New Life Nungua Children’s Home. The children are traumatised; they can’t even go to school. I don’t know why the newly appointed MCE of Krowor is doing this.

These are the kids here; they are destroying our property to create a road for the community”.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the video by saying, “I have passed before and to access houses behind the children’s home, you have to go through their premises. I questioned it the first time is used it”.

One netizen added, “Why you go see road then go build for the road inside? The country is urbanising and streets ought to get expanded for easy flow of emergency vehicles. Put emotions aside and apply logic, my people”.

“The irony here is sad. The government can’t help orphans but will disrupt private people who have assumed the responsibility”, another stated.

One more netizen added, “You don’t build on roads, but it’s crazy to just start demolishing a building without any warning, especially a home where it’s mostly filled with kids”.

Additionally, another netizen added, “I live here and that’s a route to many homes. He blocked the road with a 40ft container yesterday, inconveniencing a lot of people from accessing their homes! It is not political, he blocked it twice since I came to live here and it was broken twice by the boys in the hood”.

Another Ghanaian wrote, “Ghana is the only country where we pay monies to district assemblies for them to allow us build properties on designated sites for roads then we later come crying when the government comes back destroying the property to construct road”.
