According to Kwesi Pratt, Roey Gilad’s recent comment on Ghana was a direct insult to Ghana.

His comments come after the following Roey Gilad’s comments made regarding Ghana’s recent vote abstention on Iran’s nuclear compliance at a Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting.

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana acknowledged Ghana’s sovereign right to abstain.

He however suggested Ghana rethink its longstanding non-aligned policy, which he claimed is heavily influenced by the AU and Arab League.

According to Roey Gilad,  Ghana needs a more “balanced” approach to global issues and questioned whether abstention was in the country’s best interest.

“Even though Israel respects Ghana’s sovereignty and non-aligned stance, I don’t know whether this [abstention] serves the best interest of Ghana,” Gilad stated.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, Kwesi Pratt fired shots at the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana questioning who he is to determine Ghana’s interest.

Kwesi Pratt detailed, “The arrogance of Israel and its officials is sickening, the Israeli ambassador in Ghana is teaching our government how to behave in international relations? Who is he to determine Ghana’s interests?”

“This is a direct insult to Ghana. He says our government is not pursuing Ghanaian interests well, who gave him that authority? These are decisions for the Ghanaian people to make,” he fumed.

He further added, “This could never have happened under Nkrumah, Acheampong or Rawlings. Our government must show some muscle and defend our sovereignty,” he asserted.

“I want to see this government take some action to protect national dignity. Let these diplomats understand that it is we, the Ghanaian people, who gave our leaders the mandate, not any foreign envoy,” he emphatically added.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to Kwesi Pratt’s comments by saying, “ Kwasi Prat, your actions appear inconsistent. You led a protest in Ghana advocating for “Free Palestine,” yet you have not organized similar efforts to address the ongoing brutal killings of our neighbours in the Democratic Republic of Congo or the daily murders of (1/2)”

Another stated, “This isn’t our fight. This would hope we stay out of this!!! Ghana can’t defend itself against any of those countries so just”.

One more X user stated, “Oh!! So Mr. Rawlings had something good about him now? Masa be consistent, not convenient. You were filled with disgust about Rawlings but pluck the fruit of his labour and smile when it suits you”.
