Sam George, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation has stated that MTN, Telecel and AT will increase their data bundle effective July 1, 2025.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday Sam George stated, “Starting July 1, AT-Tigo Ghana will offer a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Additionally, the GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 195 gigabytes of data, will now offer 236 gigabytes of data.”
“Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited- Telecel, also a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Their GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 90 gigabytes, will offer 250 gigabytes from July 1.”
“Scancom Ghana Limited-MTN has a 15% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. I’m pleased to announce the restoration of the GHC399 bundles, which have been changed to the GHC350 bundle that offers 92.88 gigabytes, will be reinstated to 214 gigabytes for GHC399,” he said.
It will be recalled Sam George had earlier stated that his ministry was looking at a roadmap instead of sentiment in their approach to data prices.
He stated, “We are looking at price, value and quality the ministry is going to take steps on all three one at a time”.
He added, “I believe we should see in a matter of weeks less than a month we should see some movement in value, and then in subsequent weeks we will make another move on price and subsequent to that we will make another move on quality.
So, I mean, when we talk value, if today you were getting, say, 100 gig for a certain price, value would mean that you could get more than 100 gig at the same price,” Mr George explained.
