Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa has mocked the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over their tussle over 60 out of 88 parliamentary seats.

The IMANI president noted that the once mighty, well-respected NPP under Kufour, now has its decimated rank and file fighting over 60 members of parliament.

In a post on his social media page on X, Franklin Cudjoe wrote, “It is so sad seeing the once mighty, well respected NPP under Kufour, now having its decimated rank and file fighting over 60 out of 88 parliamentary seats they luckily managed after the 2024 electoral bludgeoning. For supposed front runners for the party’s flagbearer race?

It would be wise to fight to convince 276 constituencies that the party will convince many thieves who stole our money to return the loot, ban them from contesting elections and share a credible plan devoid of empty slogans, spin and waste. Maybe then Ghanaians will try paying attention to them”, he added.

His comments come on the back of claims over sixty NPP MPs had endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2028 flagbearership bid with some suggesting the number is lower than sixty.

Reports had earlier revealed that some of the MPs paid a courtesy call to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to pledge their support.

The MPs revealed that over sixty out of the NPP’s Eighty-eight MPs have endorsed the former vice president.

Speaking to the media after the close door meeting Dr Bawumia stated, “This morning I had a visit, from our members of parliament, and it was a very happy visit a courtesy call and a call to declare support for me I am so happy for the group that has declared support for me from parliament.

They amount to just over 60 members and you know we have 88 members of parliament, so it is very significant that members of parliament have declared support for me, I just want to use this opportunity to thank all of them”.

Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah a former government spokesperson and now a member of the Kennedy Agyapong team, has also revealed that about Fifty NPP MPs are backing the former Assin Central flagbearership bid.

In a post on X, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah wrote, “Truth is sacrosanct. Politics is a game of numbers and not lies and propaganda. I have the list of the MPs who have confidently thrown their support for @realKenAgyapong – Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong.

Because of this truth- “J K” quickly organized a meeting of 26 MPs and claimed the number to be 60”.

He further detailed, “Now, let’s further show my proof of work. The orphan constituencies where NPP @nppghanahq lost seats – the 187 Parliamentary Candidates have also thrown their future fate to Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong.

The base, the grassroots is for Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong. The 187 Parliamentary Candidates of the NPP know that their political future hinges on the candidature of Ken.

To have a majority in the 10th Parliament, in 2029 we should not just focus on the mighty minority throwing support but how to reclaim the 187 seats from the ruling NDC. It is only Ken Ohene Agyapong that can give us the NPP a Majority in PARLIAMENT. Count on him”, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah emphasised.

Meanwhile, the main front runners for the NPP’s flagbearer position are Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Minister for Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, and former Minister for Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
