Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the minority leader has reminded, the First Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor how the NPP prophesied in 2016 that it would take the NDC 50 years to return to power.
The minority leader claimed Bernard Ahiafor was deliberately trying to frustrate and intimidate him.
He further prophesied that Ahiafor would soon occupy his seat when the NDC returned to opposition.
Speaking during the vetting of Supreme Court nominee Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, Afenyo Markin stated, “This is part of politics, and I am used to it. One day they will be in this chair—one day, very soon—so let them enjoy the liberties of governance and intimidate me. I will get them.”
Ahiafor responded, “Let me complete your prophecy by saying that—after 50 years.”
Afenyo-Markin fired back: “No problem, it’s okay. We prophesied in 2016 that it would take you 50 years, and you’re here. Don’t worry, you’ll have to bring a new candidate in 2028. We will see. You continue enjoying and intimidating me.
These are precedents that, tomorrow, when you are suffering, you’ll have no ventilation. So enjoy what you think you are doing to me.”
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have commented on the video by saying, “ Even NDC after all what happened between 2012 and 2015, ( green book, Dumsor, various scandals, etc) leading to them going into opposition came back with the same flagbearer and got power after 8 years, NDC? Ahiafor should not be too comfortable”.
“Afenko-Markin dey make me enjoy politics..But enjoy adey enjoy all the reductions by NDC government. 50 years more for NDC”, another stated.
Another X user stated, “So everyday It’s about power, who sits where and who wins power. So when will it be about us ? Don’t we also matter. Everything about this political class is power but not works and the citizens will be supporting this nonsense behavior and utterances. Why are do we vote self”.
