Professor Ransford Gyampo the CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority has boldly claimed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot win an election until somewhere in 2032.
According to Ransford Gyampo, he respects the NPP leadership initiatives but notes they need a whole lot of work to regain the trust of Ghanaians.
Speaking on TV3 Key Points, Professor Gyampo, “I respect the NPP, their leadership, as well as their initiatives but I sincerely, think that they need to do a whole of work to regain the trust of Ghanaians before they think of contesting in any elections.
“I think they should go back to the drawing board to ascertain what has gone on internally over the years. Currently, I don’t think that they can win any contest until somewhere in 2032,” Prof Gyampo added.
Meanwhile, in an old interview, Prof. Ransford Gyampo stated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost its soul because of the calibre of its leaders.
The former political science lecturer noted that the calibre of leaders the NPP has now cannot be compared to that of B.J. Da Rocha, Peter Ala Adjetey, and Haruna Eseku.
He asserted that the NPP must trace its roots back to its traditions to be taken seriously.
Speaking in an interview with Metro TV, Prof. Gyampo detailed, “The calibre of people that the NPP now has in power as their leaders, I compare them to those I saw growing up.
I used to work with B.J. Da Rocha at the Institute of Economic Affairs when he retired. He was always coming to the IEA secretariat, and I used to talk to him about how he conducted himself as the founding chairman of the NPP”.
He continued, “I used to talk to Mr Dan Botwe, Haruna Esseku, Odoi Sykes, Ala Adjetey, and Agyenim Boateng. I know what they stood for and how they managed the party’s affairs. I don’t see the current crop of NPP leadership doing the same.”
“The current NPP has lost its soul because of the calibre of people they have recruited to lead them and it is important if the party wants to be taken seriously, it must trace its roots back to its traditions.
NPP is an elite party, it is not a mass party it must go back to it tradition, but the calibre of people leading it now I don’t see it.
“NPP is a party that believes in healthy debate, not a party that sponsors small boys on social media to insult people they should be learning from,” he concluded.
