Speaking on JOYNEWS, Justice Srem-Sai stated, “The arrest comes in many forms. You can arrest him and keep him temporarily, but beyond that, there must be a formal extradition process”.

“So the fact that you are on the Red Notice is not automatic that there is an arrest warrant for which you will be extradited.”

“We are currently in the process of taking steps to have him extradited to Ghana,” he stated.

“We make a formal application to the law enforcement agency in that country. They will place him under arrest, and he will go through extradition proceedings,” the Deputy Attorney General noted.

“We are in the process with law enforcement in the U.S. to actively look for him,”

Meanwhile, the family of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed he will return to Ghana after surgery on June 13, 2025.

According to the family, Ken Ofori-Atta will return after surgery to face the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

On Monday, June 9, in a statement released by the family, they condemned the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice and declared the OSP’s actions as violations of due process, constitutional rights, and international law.

Kissi Agyebeng revealed that he has triggered a process for the issuance of an INTERPOL red notice, potentially subjecting Ken Ofori-Atta, to international arrest and extradition.

The Special Prosecutor in a press conference rejected Ken Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual session.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, Ken Ofori-Atta must present himself physically to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
