Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the party’s decision to return to Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show.

The announcement comes following the NDC  boycotting Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show for five years.

The NDC boycotted the Kokrokoo show in May 2020 after describing the host, Kwami Sefa Kayi as a dictator and biased.

A statement signed by Sammy Gyamfi said the decision was taken following the radio station’s ‘unfair panelling system that the production team of that programme has continuously foisted on the NDC over several months.

“The National Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wishes to inform all its communicators, media monitors, and officials that the party has boycotted Peace (104.3) FM’s morning show (Kokrokoo) effective today, Wednesday, 6th May 2020”, Sammy Gyamfi, said in the statement.

The NDC further stated that all efforts to get the producers and host of the programme to replace the former NDC Central regional chairman of the party Allotey Jacobs with a fair-minded NDC member had proved futile, indicating that “the party continues to be treated with utmost contempt.

It has now been close to five (5) years since the NDC boycotted the show, and Kwami Sefa Kayi has opened up about the incident, calling for peace to reign supreme and the two parties return to working together.

Host of the Kokrokoo Morning Show on Peace FM, Kwami Sefa Kayi some months ago rendered an unqualified apology to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), asking them to return to featuring on his show.

“Let bygones be bygones. They should come back and let us work together. We need them and they need us. We have the biggest platform and they are the political party in power so they should return to the show. I am the head of the Kokrokoo show and I take responsibility for what happened. I plead with them, let us put this impasse to an end and work together,” he said.

Kwami Sefa Kayi argued the management of the station stood by him in this apology, indicating that they have worked behind the scenes to put the matter to bed.
