Paul Adom-Otchere, the host of Good Evening Ghana, has boldly claimed that the National Democratic Congress(NDC) is afraid of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) early presidential election on January 31, 2026.

The broadcaster asserted that the NPP’s early presidential election is a master stroke that will ensure the NDC have no chance in the 2028 presidential election.

According to Paul Adom Otchere,  having its flagbearer in January 2026 will be a big blow to the NDC.

He asserted that the NPP would have more time to win the hearts of Ghanaians than any NDC candidate.

Speaking on his show Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom-Otchere detailed, “The NDC is worried because if any of these gentlemen emerge on 31 January as the NPP’s presidential candidate, he is the only one on the ballot in 2028. He’s the only one. The NDC don’t have anybody on the ballot yet.

Now, the Supreme Court judges have confirmed to Parliament that John Dramani Mahama cannot and is ineligible to contest the 2028 election. So, the NDC doesn’t have a candidate,” he argued.

Meanwhile, Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant hopeful, has fired shots at the NPP’s National Executive Committee’s decision to conduct the presidential primaries before the national executive elections, describing it as nonsense and motivated by greed.

According to Boakye Agyarko, if the party genuinely understood the dynamics of campaigning and sought to make a real impact on the electorate, it would have prioritised the selection of capable party executives across the country.

He noted that nobody builds a house starting from the roof before constructing the foundation.

Boakye Agyarko emphasised that strengthening the base by electing competent lower-level executives would significantly support the work of presidential aspirants, as these executives play a crucial role in grassroots mobilisation.

Speaking on Sompa FM, Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko stated, “What has caused them to change the bottom-top approach to the top-bottom approach? Who builds a house starting from the roof before constructing the foundation. It’s either some people don’t understand the politics or are just being selfish and greedy. Why will you elect a flagbearer before national and regional executives? It is total nonsense!” Agyarko stated.

“If you understand campaigns very well, you will not elect a flagbearer at this time. There are 88,917 human settlements in Ghana and so, if you elect a flagbearer and expect them to campaign in all these communities, it will take them 10 years to achieve that, but if you have 210,000 executives from polling stations, they can successfully campaign in these communities within a week if two executives are assigned to each community,” he continued.

“First and foremost, we sell the party to the people before the flagbearer even comes in. There is no way one person can win an election for any political party; that is why we begin from the polling stations,” he added.

Dear Patriots,

Early presidential election a master stroke of political maneuvering

I find it unfortunate and sad that such a brilliant strategy adopted by our great party has to be explained in such detail,
not for anything else but because of deliberate attempts from some… pic.twitter.com/l2RfWyh3TO
