The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested fourteen (14) individuals for their alleged involvement in the possession, trade, and distribution of illegal drugs.
The information gathered suggests the police crackdown on drugs happened at the Birim Central and Asene Manso Akroso districts of the Eastern Region.
According to reports, the swoop was executed after several weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
Three licensed chemical stores have been shut down for their role in the sale of unregistered and controlled pharmaceutical substances.
Reports suggest, illegal drugs, including cannabis and a locally known substance referred to as “red,” were seized during the operation.
The fourteen individuals are currently in the custody of the Ghana Police Service.
