Venessa Edotom Boateng, a broadcast Journalist has replied to a member of the national communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku who stated she bought Palm oil under NPP for GH¢35, but is now selling at GH¢80.

She wrote on X, accompanied by some bottles of palm oil, “My mother sells authentic, locally made palm oil for 40 GHS. Don’t go and buy it for 80 GHS, ooo yooooo!”.
According to Ellen Ama Daaku, the NDC-led government under John Mahama after taking office after 6 months has not just doubled food inflation they have quadrupled it.
Speaking on Asaase Radio, Ellen Daaku stormed the studio with foodstuffs, Ellen Ama Daaku stated, “When the NDC took over in January, palm oil was GH¢35; it is now sold at GH¢80. These three medium-sized onions cost GH¢25. These three tomatoes, each one is GH¢7. This pepper is GH¢10. Three carrots now cost GH¢20,” she lamented.
“Why am I bringing all these? In just six months, food and clothing inflation haven’t just doubled, some have quadrupled.
The NPP communicator further claimed she now spends GH¢2,000 weekly on food alone.
“I spend GH¢2,000 a week on foodstuffs, and that doesn’t even include provisions,” she stated.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the NPP’s communicators comments saying, “ Eeeiiii, naaaa how can you tell me this story 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I just bought tomatoes right now 5 for Ghc10, nowadays now Ghanaians are wise oooh”.
Is she aware tomatoes, onions, pepper, carrots are seasonal crops and they abound only in their seasons?
