President John Dramani Mahama has once again cooked former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
John Mahama on Sunday, June 15, 2025, mocked Akufo-Addo over his failure to complete the National Cathedral project before leaving office.
Speaking at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, John Mahama delivering a sermon during the church’s Father’s Day service stated, “May our church continue to grow bountifully and be that huge master tree that we all want it to be.
May our church not be the National Cathedral hole… You didn’t see that one coming.”
He added, “May our church not be the National Cathedral hole. Let it grow and grow and grow,” prompting the audience to burst into laughter.
The National Cathedral was the brainchild of former President Nana Akufo-Addo as a national Christian worship centre and a symbol of Ghana’s religious heritage to thank God for ensuring his victory in election 2016 and 2020.
The National Cathedral project was initiated in 2017 but was mired in controversy due to its high cost, the source of funding, and allegations of embezzlement of funds by its Board of Trustees.
It faced widespread criticism over the handling of its finances and execution, with several allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption surfacing throughout its development.
