Isaac Obeng a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team has boldly claimed the John Mahama-led NDC government is losing public goodwill.
The NPP communicator asserted that the ongoing labour union strikes show a growing lack of trust in the Mahama government.
Isaac Obeng is quoted by Kasapa FM to have stated, “NDC’s Mahama-led government is steadily losing the public goodwill that comes with electoral victory, the ongoing labour unions strikes show a growing lack of trust”.
His comments come after the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) announced the suspension of its nationwide strike.
The GRNMA has directed members to resume normal shifts from Saturday 14 June.
The health workers initiated a strike on June 2, 2025, in protest against the government’s failure to implement an agreement signed with the previous Akufo-Addo administration.
The GRNMA grievances include the non-payment of critical allowances, such as responsibility, uniform, and non-basic allowances, which collectively amount to millions of cedis owed over time.
On Friday, June 13, 2025, a statement issued by the leadership of the Association stated the decision to suspend the industrial action was influenced by the pleas of Ghanaians and the intervention of Parliament’s Health Committee.
They described the meeting with the Parliament’s Health Committee on Thursday, June 12 as very fruitful.
In a related story, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) serves notice of a nationwide strike if agreed conditions of service are not implemented by June 30th.
CLOGSAG have given the government until June 30 to meet their demands or face nationwide strike action.
On Thursday, June 12, in a letter addressed to the sector minister, they revealed that their members are mounting pressure on the leadership.
