Mahama gov’t to be hit with another strike, as University Administrators threaten strike

The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike.

The University administrators are threatening to strike over unresolved salary, allowance issues.

According to GAUA, they will embark on a nationwide strike if the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) fails to comply with a directive issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC).

GAUA asserted that  NLC on Monday, June 9, instructed GTEC to reinstate members whose allowances were withdrawn or reduced last month

The Association, in a statement issued, revealed that no concrete steps have been taken to implement these directives.

The Ghana Association of University Administrators are giving the government until the end of the month to act or face another strike.

In a related story, the  Tertiary Education Workers Union of Ghana have also issued a seven-day ultimatum to GTEC.

TEWU-GH is demanding an immediate reversal of the directive mandating traditional public universities to swear in representatives of the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union.
