Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, the wife of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has stated her husband would require about 3 months to recover fully.
The wife of Ken Ofori-Atta yesterday June 16 revealed that his surgery was successful.
According to Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, Ken Ofori Atta had a successful surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
On Monday, June 16 a statement issued by Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta revealed a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy took place on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.
She stated, “The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime”.
“Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she noted.
She added, “Our family is truly grateful for the support and prayers of many people and pastors”.
Speaking on Joy News, Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta stated, “He has quite a bit of pain. We have to make sure his wounds don’t get infected. I think that they are expecting that he will be much improved after a while when the wounds heal. Then there would be a period of about 3 months when there’s observation going to happen, then hopefully after 3 months the recovery will be complete, and that’s if all goes well,” she explained on June 16.
“It’s amazing that we have to deal with cancer in the last year. This is the only process by which we hopefully ensure that it doesn’t spread.”
She added, “The Ken that we all know does not run away from accountability. We know that he has been to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to talk about his work. This is not a Ken who runs away from accountability. I ask the public to remember that he hasn’t shied away from facing up issues”.
“Even through these stressful times, he has always said, let me respond to you by video, it is allowed, so that I’m not the cause of you delaying your investigations. He has also said whatever questions you have, you can ask my lawyers, and we will respond. Whatever information you want, we can give you. So, I don’t understand what is going on,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sammy Darko, the Director of Strategy and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor has reiterated that the former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta has failed to produce any certified medical report or flight risk assessment to the OSP.
According to Sammy Darko, Ken Ofori-Atta is able to fly internationally, what prevented him from appearing before law enforcement in Ghana.
In a Facebook post, Samm Darko wrote, “You may choose to distort facts or shift the goalposts, but the truth remains: as of today, Mr. Ofori-Atta has not produced any certified medical report or flight risk assessment from his personal/attending physician or hospital indicating that he is incapacitated or unable to travel.
He was given the opportunity to appear before law enforcement between February and 2 June 2025 but failed or refused to do so. Notably, he did not undergo any surgery on 21 or 22 March 2025, despite a statement from his medical coordinator—widely circulated online—suggesting otherwise.
Furthermore, has Mr Ofori-Atta not travelled in and out of the UK and USA between March and 31 May 2025? If he is able to fly internationally, what prevented him from appearing before law enforcement?”, he quizzed.
