The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has expressed his thanks to Dr Bryan Acheampong the former Food and Agriculture for helping him with his EOCO bail conditions.

Chairman Wontumi was released from EOCO custody on June 2, after meeting his bail GHS50 million conditions.

Wontumi was arrested by EOCO following a visit to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Tuesday, May 27 shortly after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.

Bryan Acheampong helped secure Wontumi’s release after he presented the necessary documents to meet the GH₵50 million bail requirement.

Chairman Wontumi expressed his profound gratitude likening his situation to the 10 people cured of leprosy with just one returning to thank Jesus.

Chairman Wontumi in a video shared on X stated, “Showing gratitude is very important in life, even Jesus acknowledges that. Jesus cured 10 persons with leprosy and after they were healed, only one returned to thank Him and He asked about the whereabouts of the rest. I can’t stay away without coming to show gratitude to you, even though you are my friend.

I could have decided to call you on phone, but If I had not come to thank you, it wouldn’t have shown that I cherish what you’ve done for me and it would also amount to disrespecting you.

When it gets to the time that I should relate to you as a brother, we’ll do things that brothers do. I have come here to say a very big thank you and also thank all party supporters for their show of love during the past few difficult days”, he added.

Meanwhile,  Chairman Wontumi is expected to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on June 4, 2025, for further interrogation.

According to his lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, Wontumi is expected to return to EOCO for further questioning on Wednesday, June 4, and again on Monday, June 9, 2025.

He made this known on Accra-based Neat FM’s morning show.
