Kofi Bentil, the Senior Vice President of IMANI-Africa has shockingly stated he will not ask former finance Ken Ofori-Atta to come to Ghana.

According to Kofi Bentil, if he were to advise Ken Ofori-Atta that would be his advice to him.

He asserted that he has strong reservations about the handling of the case.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, June 7, Kofi Bentil stated, “If I had the right to advise Ken, I will tell him, don’t come to Ghana. Let them try you in absentia and do whatever they will do, and we will take it from there”.

The family of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed he will return to Ghana after surgery on June 13, 2025.

According to the family, Ken Ofori-Atta will return after surgery to face the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

On Monday, June 9, in a statement released by the family, they condemned the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice and declared the OSP’s actions as violations of due process, constitutional rights, and international law.

The family stated, “We are confident that Mr Ofori-Atta’s rights will be restored and when these investigations are completed, he will be acquitted in full view of our entire nation and justice will find the Hamans”.

“Once Mr Ofori-Atta’s surgical procedure is over and the necessary treatment and recuperation has taken place, he will return to Ghana at the appropriate time and meet with the OSP in-person,” they added.

The family also revealed they have petitioned INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau and Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files to delete the Red Notice against him, accusing the Office of the Special Prosecutor of abusing its administrative powers.

The family emphasised that the arrest warrant issued for Ofori-Atta on 11 February 2025 was obtained under unusual circumstances without a supporting affidavit and argued that despite the warrant no charges have been filed against Ofori-Atta.

Ken Ofori-Atta’s family has since formally petitioned both the National Central Bureau and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF).

They are calling on them to immediately delete the Red Notice, arguing that it was procured based on manipulated evidence and withheld medical information.

According to Ken Ofori-Atta’s family, the OSP is abusing its powers in what it calls a “premeditated vendetta” against the former official.

Their petition come after, Kissi Agyebeng revealed that he has triggered a process for the issuance of an INTERPOL red notice, potentially subjecting Ken Ofori-Atta, to international arrest and extradition.
