The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has directed all staff of the Births and Deaths Registry nationwide to stay at home starting Tuesday, 17 June 2025,
CLOGSAG are citing an increasingly hostile work environment under the Acting Registrar, Samuel Adom Botchway.
According to CLOGSAG, Samuel Adom Botchway is acting irresponsibly by unilaterally posting and reassigning staff across the Civil and Local Government Services without proper authority.
CLOGSAG in its letter accused the Births and Deaths Registrar of verbally assaulting staff and creating what the Association describes as an uncongenial atmosphere.
“These actions have rendered the working environment unsafe and intolerable,” the Association statement stated.
The directive was contained in a letter signed by CLOGSAG Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo.
It will be recalled that CLOGSAG suspended their over one-month-old nationwide strike over the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Acting Registrar.
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) began a nationwide strike on February 20 after the John Mahama administration refused to heed their earlier warning to remove the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
Meanwhile, CLOGSAG serves notice of a nationwide strike if agreed conditions of service are not implemented by June 30th.
CLOGSAG have given the government until June 30 to meet their demands or face nationwide strike action.
On Thursday, June 12, in a letter addressed to the sector minister, they revealed that their members are mounting pressure on the leadership.
