The New Force has apologies to the public after a bodyguard viral video surfaced of the bodyguard of the 2024 presidential candidate for the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar punching a man at the funeral of the late Mamponghene.
Nana Kwame Bediako was at the funeral of the later Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman whose burial was on June 6, 2025.
In the viral video shared on X, Cheddar was spotted entering a house with his entourage, a man who was also a mourner was spotted standing near the gate.
The bodyguard grabbed the man by the neck and delivered several punches, causing the man to fall to the ground.
The bodyguard then proceeded to follow his boss Cheddar.
However, it is unclear what exactly initiated the physical altercation.
The New Force statement read, “We are deeply saddened and disturbed by a recent incident captured on video in which a member of the security team assigned to our presidential candidate was seen physically assaulting a supporter who was merely attempting to speak with the candidate.
“The individual in question was unarmed, posed no threat, and deserved nothing but dignity and respect. We extend our sincerest apologies to the victim and their family, and to all Ghanaians who rightly expect better conduct from those associated with our movement”.
“We have launched an immediate investigation into the incident, and we assure the public that the perpetrator will be held fully accountable under the law and internal disciplinary processes. We are committed to restoring public confidence by ensuring that such behaviour is never repeated. We thank the public for bringing this matter to light and for holding us to the highest standard,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, a netizen has boldly declared that the bodyguard of the 2024 presidential candidate for the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar must be arrested.
His declaration comes after a viral video surfaced of the bodyguard punching a man at the funeral of the late Mamponghene.
The netizen on X wrote, “Cheddar’s bodyguard must be arrested 👀@GhPoliceService do the needful”.
