The information gathered suggests some politically connected individuals to the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration have been exposed for allegedly siphoning millions from Exim Bank loans.
According to the report, the siphoning scheme happened under then-CEO, Lawrence Agyinsam under the guise of promoting agriculture.
The shocking revelation suggests Exim Bank which was meant to support Ghana’s export-driven businesses was a cash cow for these individuals within the former Akufo-Addo government.
The huge loan sums are said to be running into millions of dollars were disbursed based on questionable claims and documentation with some EXIM Bank Ghana officials also fingered in the scheme.
Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has also been fingered for receiving a substantial loan ostensibly for farming purposes, however, there is no evidence of the farm’s existence.
A prominent traditional ruler from the Ashanti Region has also been exposed to benefit from the supposed farming scheme.
The applicants are said to have submitted forged documents claiming ownership of large tracts of farmland.
Some of the Exim Bank loans have also been linked to close relatives of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and senior officials who worked at the Jubilee House.
A high-ranking female presidential official daughter and spouse has also been fingered for receiving over GHS 90 million for a rice farming venture that has yet to materialise.
Reports suggest the loan could have been as much as US$18 million.
