A spokesperson of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, Kwasi Kwarteng, has revealed a shocking development between the former president Akufo-Addo and the former vice president Dr Bawumia.
According to Kwasi Kwarteng, Akufo-Addo has abandoned Bawumia.
Kwasi Kwarteng is quoted by GHONE TV as having stated, I can say for a fact that former President Akufo-Addo has abandoned Bawumia”.
In a related story, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Arthur Kennedy, has allegedly revealed that the former president Akufo-Addo has withdrawn his support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr Arthur Kennedy claimed that Akufo-Addo is no longer backing Dr Bawumia for a possible 2028 presidential run.
He asserted that his information was accurate. Dr Kennedy said he preferred to let the former president speak for himself when the time was right, out of respect for him.
Speaking on TV3, when asked by Alferd Ocansey, “Are you saying on record that Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo is not supporting Dr Mahamudu Bawumia anymore, should he decide to contest the flagbearership in 2028?”
Arthur Kennedy stated, “Yes, I am, Yes I do, I cannot tell you that, but if it is not correct, whoever is in the know can correct me, and as events unfold, we will see whether what I have just told you is true or not.
Out of respect to the former president, I will let him lay out his reasoning himself when he is ready”, he boldly added.
His comments come following Dr Bawumia confessing the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government’s sins that led to the 2024 election defeat, with many Ghanaians seeing it as him throwing his former boss under the bus.
According to Dr Bawumia, hardship in the country, arrogance displayed by his government, e-levy, the debt restructuring program, and the lack of reshuffling of ministerial portfolios caused the NPP’s defeat.
