A former parliamentary aspirant for the Oforikrom constituency Henry Osei Akoto has fired shots at New Patriotic Party(NPP) members.
Henry Osei Akoto asserted that NPP members who commit crimes with impunity are arrested and are now claiming democracy is under threat.
In a post on X Henry Osei Akoto stated, “ You commit crimes with impunity, and when you are arrested, you claim democracy is under threat. It’s your brain that is under threat”.
His comment comes on the heels of of Chairman Wontumi being arrested by EOCO following a visit to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Tuesday, May 27 shortly after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.
However, EOCO operatives intercepted him upon his exit.
EOCO has yet to issue an official statement on the Wontumi’s arrest.
The detailed nature of the investigations remains undisclosed, however, Wontumi’s legal team led by a former Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North, Andy Appiah Kubi revealed his client fell ill while being interrogated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra.
He however refused to provide the name or location of the medical facility where his client was receiving treatment.
Speaking to the media Andy Appiah Kubi stated, “I know where he is but I am not going to disclose the hospital. But all that I can say is that my client has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.”
“We haven’t finished with the interrogation, so we will come back to continue hopefully [Wednesday] if his condition improves. Otherwise, he will stay there until the doctors discharge him, then we come back to continue the interrogation,” he explained.
Chairman Wontumi was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
