The minority leader Alexander Afenyo Markin has distanced the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from threats made by Dennis Miracles that the party will remove Supreme Court Judges when they come to power.
The Director of Communications for the Dr Bawumia 2024 campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has made a shocking revelation about the newly nominated Supreme Court judges by President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the future NPP government will dismiss all seven newly nominated Supreme Court Judges.
Asaase Radio quoted him to have said, “Future NPP government will dismiss all seven newly nominated Supreme Court justices”.
However, Afenyo Markin’s in reaction to Dennis Aboagye is quoted to have said, “ We will not sack Supreme Court Judges when we come to power”.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin has also boldly claimed President John Dramani Mahama is plotting a third-term agenda in disguise.
He noted that the bold attempt by John Mahama to nominate out of the blue seven judges to the Supreme Court and the attempts to remove the Chief Justice are plots to set up a third-term agenda for his leadership.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, May 1, “We are going on a peaceful demonstration, this is not a parliament fight, it is a fight for every citizen who wants to live in a country where the law is supreme and no man no matter how powerful is above the law.
There must be an end to the division and the anger of the past, this government must tread with the greatest caution always keeping tomorrow in mind when making decisions today because this decision may shape future governments if we continue this path”.
He added, “It is obvious that the bold attempt by Mr President to nominate out of the blue seven judges to the Supreme Court is the first major attempt that they have rehearsed a third-term agenda.
All that the NDC is doing, All that our president is doing through the advice of the hawks of the NDC is to set a third-term agenda for his leadership”.
President John Dramani Mahama nominated seven new judges to the Supreme Court.
The nominations announced by the Office of the President were made in accordance with Article 144 (2) of the 1992 Constitution, and are subject to approval by Parliament.
