Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been exposed for allegedly receiving $12m from EXIM bank.

Alex Kwaku Tetteh the president of Citizen Eye Ghana, a pressure group has revealed that he knows for a record Chairman Wontumi received $12 million from EXIM bank.

His comment follows Chairman Wontumi’s Lawyer and former Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North revealing that his client has been served a writ of summons by Exim Bank adding to his legal challenges.

The Exim Bank writ of summons follows Wontumi’s interrogation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Wontumi’s lawyer and former Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North revealed that amidst these developments, they received a writ of summons from Exim Bank earlier in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has boldly stated the NPP will not sit and allow the John Mahama administration to keep on intimidating and harassing them.

Speaking to the media Nana Boakye stated, “The political harassment, President Mahama, this is not why we voted for you. Somebody honours an investigation from the CID and immediately he steps out with his lawyer then he is picked up in such a Rambo-style.

We are not going to sit down, we are not going to allow this political intimidation and harassment to go on trust me. In the coming days, you will hear from us”.

He added, “Even if you have an overwhelming endorsement from the people does not mean you need to harass the people. You invited somebody right after honouring the invitation he is picked up as if he is a common thief.

We have said that we want to cooperate lawfully with any form of investigation. But for the government to subject people to such political harassment and intimidation, we are not going to allow it”.
