The video surfaced amidst the Accra Mayor decongestion exercise which started on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The AMA task forces, accompanied by the Ghana Police Service, carried out operations to dismantle makeshift stalls, and unauthorised kiosks, and remove vendors from pavements and roadsides across key parts of the Central Business District.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the video by saying, “You see this side, if you do mistake pick a passenger, one policeman go jie ein head right now.

Secondly, there is a police station opposite to this. In the middle of the pavement under the bridge”.

“And when the authorities go after them they will come out crying foul! Ghana needs a military-style rule. Do before you complain”, another stated.

One more X user wrote, “The audacity and blatant disregard for public property. Even if it’s not functional, how dare you have your structure stretch into the road to that extent. And even if that’s no longer a road, have respect and fear not to do something so brazen”.

Additionally, another netizen wrote, “More interesting when you find out that there is a police station there. The police only come out when a trotro driver picks a passenger there. Ghana doesn’t only deserve a good president, Ghana deserves good citizens too”.

One more Ghanaian wrote, “And you I’ll be surprised to count more than 20 police men at the same spot..They’re only under the bridge extorting money from drivers and nothing more”.
