A viral video has surfaced of an elderly fishmonger who was left devastated, shedding tears after discovering she had been paid GHS 800 in counterfeit notes.
Reports suggest the fishmonger was paid GHS 800 in counterfeit notes by an unidentified individual who bought all her smoked fish near Korle Bu.
According to the woman, she was selling by the roadside when a man on a motorbike approached and offered to buy all her fish.
She priced the smoked fish at GHS 950 but upon negotiation sold the fish at GHS 800, which the unidentified individual paid.
The fishmonger narrated that it wasn’t until she boarded a vehicle and attempted to pay her fare with part of the money that the driver pointed out the cedi notes were fake.
Initially, she didn’t believe him, leading to a brief altercation.
