The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has warned government appointees there shall never be any excuse whatsoever when an appointee crosses the line.
According to Julius Debrah, appointees must comply with the newly introduced Code of Conduct by President John Dramani Mahama, and warn that any breaches will not be tolerated.
Speaking at the launch of the Code of Conduct on Monday, May 5, 2025, Julius Debrah stated, “An aspect of governance is like running a boarding school, there needs to be checks and balances rules and regulations which tells you don’t walk around during prep hours. The same to applies to what we are doing here.
I will encourage each and every one of you, once you get your copy, to study it just like your Bible. Because there shall never be any excuse whatsoever when you cross the line”.
He added, “The only time you will not be able to reach the president is when we are about removing you, I have heard some of you say he is my friend I go to his house trust me even if you meander your way to reach him through his driver or ADC the President will tell you as for this Julius this issue came up and I told him to wait to look at what he has done, but he has written the letter already.
I wish we are never going to have that bad experience of removing any one of you. But don’t forget that if you play ignorance, it’s never an excuse,” he noted.
Meanwhile, President Mahama at the launch revealed that all gifts and hampers received by government appointees with an estimated value exceeding GHC20,000 must be declared.
He also added that no public funds should be used for gifts and hampers.
