Manasseh Azure Awuni an award-winning investigative journalist has fired shots at the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Dame over his calls for the good men of Ghana to stand up for what is right.
Speaking on JOY FM, Godfred Dame stated, “It is about time that good men in this country speak for what is righteous and what is right. If there is any Attorney-General who, right from his appointment, has stood up for the judiciary and spoken against attacks on it, it is myself.
It is not right and must be corrected. It is about time that proper things are stood for in this country. We cannot let people mislead the public and let it go uncorrected.”
He added, “It is about time that the proper things are stood for in this country and we cannot let people mislead the public and go uncorrected. I am making the point the action I have taken is consistent with all actions I have taken right from the first day I was appointed Attorney General.
What I am doing now is very much in tune and consistent with all I have stood for all my life. Indeed it is not about Justice Torkonoo at all it is about ensuring that this unwarranted attack on the judiciary is fought off.
All that is happening is a very calculated effort by the NDC government to attack the Judiciary and shape it in a manner they desire”, he added.
His comments come following his decision to represent suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo in her injunction case filed against the committee probing her.
Reacting to comments made by Godfred Dame, Manasseh Azure noted the good men the former Attorney General is calling on were silent while they were in government and now that they are in opposition they are calling on them to speak up.
In a post on X Manasseh Azure stated, “The “good men” they silenced while in government are the ones they are now calling on to speak up while in opposition”.
