The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine has boldly dared the member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus to stop the theatrics and tell Ghanaians what you know about the NSS ghost names scandal.
According to Dominic Ayine, Kwame A Plus should stop cowardly hiding behind social media to make baseless allegations against people who have worked hard to earn a reputation.
He further revealed he is ready to walk into the mud with the member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus over the allegation of bribery and corruption levelled against him.
Speaking at a media briefing on 30 April 2025, Dr Dominic Ayine stated, “A Plus warned me in his post not to do anything silly and threatened to come after me if I did. That is laughable.”
“The threat is laughable because I have nothing to hide. I’m reliably informed that his basis for accusing me of corruption and theft is that I received campaign contributions from a businessman at East Legon known as Dr Sledge and that he also knows the people who donated pickups for my campaign.”
He added, “If receiving donations for your campaign or getting a pickup for campaign purposes is considered theft or corruption, then there are 276 thieves in Parliament, including the person making the allegation himself”.
“If A Plus has any evidence of corruption or thievery against me, I am challenging him today to call a press conference and present it or present it to the police to investigate me.”
Dr Dominic Ayine further asked the media to ask A Plus about the NSS ghost names scandal, saying, “In contrast, the media should ask him about the silly thing which I was about to do which frightened him so much into making that silly post about me. He should be asked what he knows about the National Service ghost names scandal and related matters.
If he can give truthful answers to these questions then Ghanaians will know why he took to social media to do what he did”.
He continued, “Let him be warned. In my hometown, we don’t fear mud being thrown at us. We walk into the mud to deal with the person doing the mudslinging and I’m ready to walk into the mud with A Plus because what I have about him and the National Service Scandal he should come and tell you I am challenging him.
He should come and tell you the media and should stop cowardly hiding behind social media to make baseless allegations against people who have worked hard to earn a reputation”.
Meanwhile, Dr Dominic Ayine has announced that the suspects involved in the NSS ghost names scandal will be charged next week.
Dr Ayine added, “The investigations into the National Service ghost names scandal have progressed well. And we will be filing charges against some of the persons involved from the first week in May, I mean, a few days’ time.”
