Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has referred President John Dramani Mahama’s seven nominees as Justices of the  Supreme Court to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report, in accordance with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution.

On Tuesday, May 27 during proceedings in Parliament, Speaker Bagbin tasked the leadership of the Judiciary Committee and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to join the Appointments Committee in vetting the nominees.

It will be recalled some months ago President John Dramani Mahama nominated seven new judges to the Supreme Court.

The nominations announced by the Office of the President were made in accordance with Article 144 (2) of the 1992 Constitution, and are subject to approval by Parliament.

The nominees are:

Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei

Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh

Justice Senyo Dzamefe

Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo

Justice Philip Bright Mensah

Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo

Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
