Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, the minority leader in parliament has shed tears as he recalled the passing of his sister.
According to an emotional Afenyo Markin, his sister fell ill while they were with his grandmother but she refused to take her to the hospital trusting in her prayers.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanaian broadcaster Kafui Dey, Afenyo Markin recounted, “Eventually, my sister became unwell, and I recall it was deteriorating but Grandma refused to take her to the hospital, she kept praying instead. Then, one day, my sister could no longer walk; she was crawling.
She crawled and fell on her side, which alarmed Grandma. That very night, she carried her to a nearby clinic across the street,” he narrated.
Afenyo Markin recounted that as he struggled to narrate the painful experience.
He continued, “We stayed there the whole night, and the next morning… she was my only sister. Then they told us she was dead. We saw a lot of people there, they tied her up and wrapped her, and outside the house, they dug and buried my sister.
So I was sent to Grandpa in his village we walked, I lived with him there was no school so he took me hunting at midnight he went to set his trap, and he pampered me a lot”, Afenyo Markin shed tears as he relived the painful memory.
