Victoria Hamah, the former Deputy Communications Minister has urged President John Dramani Mahama not to dismiss the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi but rather reprimand him.
According to her, Sammy Gyamfi’s action pricked the feelings of Ghanaians but claimed that a reprimand should be given rather than a dismissal from office.
In a Social Media post by Victoria Hamah, part of the statement read, “I respectfully submit that a formal reprimand, rather than exclusion from office, represents the most constitutionally sound and developmentally judicious response.
This recommendation emerges not as an attempt to trivialise the gravity of the situation, but rather as a call for balanced adjudication – one that recognises the necessity of accountability while remaining anchored in the principles of mentorship, institutional resilience, and democratic maturation,” she said.
Sammy Gyamfi has come under serious scrutiny after a video surfaced of him gifting fetish priestess now pastor Patricia Asiedua, commonly known as Nana Agradaa some huge sums of dollars.
In a viral video shared on social media platform X Sammy Gyamfi was spotted standing beside his white Range Rover, taking a photo with Nana Agradaa.
After a brief conversation between the two Sammy Gyamfi proceeded to sit in his car.
Sammy Gyamfi in the vehicle was seen counting several notes of US dollars.
Nana Agradaa upon seeing Sammy Gyamfi count the dollars insisted that he hand over all the notes instead of giving her just some.
She later grabbed all the money from his hands and, walking away, flaunted the huge sums of US dollars to bystanders, saying, “I have taken dollars from Sammy Gyamfi.”
Sammy Gyamfi has since issued a public apology for his indiscretion.
“Folks, I have taken notice of the wave of criticisms against my person in the last 24 hours. To clarify, this was simply a kind gesture to a fellow human being, in line with my daily and life-long custom of lending a helping hand to people in need.
I sincerely thought that I was doing this act of kindness in private and never imagined that same could find its way into the public space. That is unfortunate and regrettable,” he stated.
Meanwhile, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications team Ellen Ama Ofosuaa Daaku has stated that Sammy Gyamfi must be sacked just like Victoria Hammah was in John Mahama’s first term in office.
Ellen Ama Daaku recalled President Mahama’s past disciplinary actions within the NDC citing Victoria Hammah, a former Deputy Minister, who he dismissed after a leaked recording suggested she would quit politics if she had access to $1 million.
