Prof. Ransford Gyampo the acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority has stated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost its soul because of the calibre of its leaders.
The former political science lecturer noted that the calibre of leaders the NPP has now cannot be compared to that of B.J. Da Rocha, Peter Ala Adjetey, and Haruna Eseku.
He asserted that the NPP must trace its roots back to its traditions to be taken seriously.
Speaking in an interview with Metro TV, Prof. Gyampo detailed, “The calibre of people that the NPP now has in power as their leaders, I compare them to those I saw growing up.
I used to work with B.J. Da Rocha at the Institute of Economic Affairs when he retired. He was always coming to the IEA secretariat, and I used to talk to him about how he conducted himself as the founding chairman of the NPP”.
He continued, “I used to talk to Mr Dan Botwe, Haruna Esseku, Odoi Sykes, Ala Adjetey, and Agyenim Boateng. I know what they stood for and how they managed the party’s affairs. I don’t see the current crop of NPP leadership doing the same.”
“The current NPP has lost its soul because of the calibre of people they have recruited to lead them and it is important if the party wants to be taken seriously, it must trace its roots back to its traditions.
NPP is an elite party, it is not a mass party it must go back to it tradition, but the calibre of people leading it now I don’t see it.
“NPP is a party that believes in healthy debate, not a party that sponsors small boys on social media to insult people they should be learning from,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the latest on the NPP Chairmanship race is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwo Boasiako commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, officially announced his decision to contest for the National Chairmanship position of the NPP.
According to Chairman Wontumi, he had an encounter with God before he decided to contest for the position.
He asserted that he is hopeful that leading the party’s chairmanship position will see the party return to power in 2028, as Ghanaians wish.
Speaking on his station Wontumi TV, Chairman Wontumi stated, “I have spoken to God and I have pleaded with him, that when it is time for Chairman Wontumi, the NPP is an elephant when it’s time I will pick form in serving with respect to serve the NPP for us to return to power in 2028”.
“So I will say yes, I will contest for the NPP National Chairman when the time comes”, he boldly declared.
