Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) told many lies in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
According to Dr Bawumia, the NDC claimed once in power they will reduce the cost of Kenkey and the general cost of living.
He quizzed Ghanaians if they had seen any reduction in kenkey prices in the country.
Speaking during an interaction with the Young Executive Forum (YEF) in London, Dr Bawumia stated, “It’s very easy to spread propaganda while in opposition. They told many lies. They claimed that, once in power, they would reduce the cost of kenkey and the general cost of living. But have you seen any reduction in kenkey prices in Ghana? No. Prices are rather increasing”.
Whether it’s cement or other commodities, prices are not coming down. And this is just within four or five months. As time goes on, it will become even clearer that their promises to reduce the cost of living were unfounded, he added.
Dr Bawumia also noted that the NDC in 2028 will be presenting a new candidate for the first time so the NPP will have a significant advantage.
“There’s a strong sense that in 2028, the NDC will present a new candidate for the first time. If all things remain equal, I believe we’ll have a significant advantage over them”, he added.
Meanwhile, a Ghanaian has heaped praises on President John Dramani Mahama after buying a ball of kenkey for a reduced price of GHS 3 at Agyeman Pentecost Junction in Labadi Town.
In the viral video, the Ghanaian expresses surprise and excitement as he is captured purchasing two balls of Kenkey he bursts into celebration when he is informed of the price of the Kenkey shouting joyfully and singing while invoking President Mahama’s name in gratitude.
“A ball of kenkey is GH¢3? John Mahama, Onaapo! Within the next two or three months, it will be GH¢2. God bless you,” he stated.
